IELTS General Reading practice tips to succeed in 2024
IELTS General Training (GT) Reading Test consists of three sections or 4-5 reading passages (between 300 to 950 words each) that you’ll have to answer in a time frame of 60 minutes. There is a set of 12-to-14 questions in each section and this makes a total of 40 questions in the Reading examination.
Each question carries 1 mark and there is still NO negative marking in 2024.
Practically, it is extremely difficult to read and understand every line of the passages when you’re racing against time. That’s why, scanning, skimming, predicting, eliminating wrong answer techniques are quintessential to quickly find the right answers to these questions.
You are allowed to mark and make notes in your reading question booklet or you can highlight any text in the passage in Computer delivered IELTS. Remember, You have to write your answers in the given time only i.e. 1 hour.

The General Training Reading test requires you to read extracts from books, magazines, newspapers, notices, advertisements, and company handbooks.
